Its BBM vs Whatsapp

Recently almost a few days ago Blackberry relaunched its BBM messaging service on iOS and Android. I have been in a kinda of a messed up state since. BBM on iOS firstly as of today DOES NOT work on iPod Touch!! Even with jailbreak. The tweak is in the works. It has been seen to be working on iPad 4th Generation but since I havent seen it I can't confirm. Secondly BBM is not available on many Android devices. As they say BBM requires atleast android 4.0 or above to work. I searched for BBM on xperia e dual which is running Android 4.1.1 . But yet i cannot find the official app for it. Only top end or very popular devices are supported as of now. The other problem I hope everyone is facing is that there is a waiting list to get BBM. And those who had registered on the list during the first launch are given first preference. This has left many ppl fuming. Infact many people who were earlier subscribed to bbm but had to change there devices are also not given a preference. This is quite bad for them considering they used the ancient bb devices just for bbm. heard pretty much a lot of jokes on the lowered spec devices. The problems with bbm are enormous. And Blackberry should not have in first place not launched their bbm service for iOS and Android without adequately preparing for it.

Whatsapp on the other hand is a well established player in the messaging market. Its service was once touted to be far inferior than BBM when it was launched back in 2009. But whatsapp has refined itself over time and made it one of the best messaging services. It has been see that it has almost replaced the sms service in smartphones. The other plus point is that whatsapp is truly cross platform. Its available on iOS, Android, Symbian, Windows Phone OS, BlackBerry OS. IT can be also run on a Windows,Linux  or a Mac using an appropriate emulator without a glitch. Whatsapp had its share of problems as well it has faced major server crashes in the past, it had blocked servers and instability in apps as well. But whatsapp never a sever taken out its application from the App Store, Play Store, Ovi Store, Windows Marketplace or BlackBerry Appworld. Infact Whatsapp is available for most of the Android devices and it works well on iPod Touches and iPads as well. Given that you have jailbroken it.

Blackberry Messenger is not a bad service though. It has its famous system of pins so that no random people cannot add you to their messaging contacts. Whereas in whatsapp anybody having your number can Whatsapp you. But you can still block them if required. People having your number are also able to add you to a group they made without your confirmation. Getting yourself removed from the group is an option here but this can be pesky sometimes. Whereas in bbm your pin is always required. So this is definitely a plus point here for bbm. Another good side of bbm is that it can send animated gifs a feature whatsapp has still not adopted. So this is it I have to say regarding the comparison between bbm and whatsapp.
